Owner and Head Groomer

Once upon a time in New York, there was a little girl who loved dogs so much, she wouldn’t even go trick or treating without her dog Scruffy by her side. When she grew up, she wore high heels and worked in fancy offices, but her heart was always with the animals. By 1998, she was volunteering with AnimaLovers in Albany and held a position on the board.

In 2000, sunny Florida and new beginnings beckoned, so she headed south, determined to look for a new job in the animal care field.

She found The Academy of Animal Arts in Largo, FL, and signed up for an intense 16-week dog grooming certification program. She learned about all breed grooming, successful salon operations, rare and AKC breeds, pet CPR and first aid, canine form and function and canine anatomy. And yes, that included getting snapped at and peed on while she practiced the finer points of working with sometimes uncooperative subjects. But that didn’t stop her! Jill graduated from The Academy in April 2001 as a Certified Dog Groomer and opened The Muddy Paw the very next day!

The original Muddy Paw was a grooming shop and pet boarding facility off Indian Rocks Road in Largo. After a year and a half spent navigating the rigorous challenges of boarding other people’s animals, Jill decided to focus solely on grooming. She transferred the business to a mobile unit and enjoyed grooming dogs all over Pinellas County for the next 6+ years.

When the opportunity to lease a small storefront on Walsingham Road came up, “The Muddy Paw--A Salon for Dogs” was born. Within three years, her schedule was bursting at the seams. After nine years, Jill outgrew the tiny storefront. In January 2017, The Muddy Paw relocated two doors east, into a larger storefront with room to grow for years to come.

And just so you know, “The Muddy Paw” apparently is a popular name for other grooming salons to borrow nowadays, so make sure you pick the best and go to Jill’s Muddy Paw. Like they say, you can imitate, but you can’t duplicate!

Jill understands the love you have for your dog and takes pride in her reputation as a caring and professional dog groomer. Rest assured when your dog comes into Jill's Muddy Paw, it will be professionally groomed and handled with love and kindness....extra snuggles and kisses are added at no extra charge!

Always on top of the latest trends and products, Jill attends annual grooming conferences and seminars in order to continue her education and expand her knowledge in the field.

And did we mention--her love for dogs runs deep! She is the Founder/President of All Dog Rescue of Florida, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit, no-kill animal rescue organization in Clearwater, FL. 2018 marks her 20th year in animal rescue.

Currently, she is the Mom of three rescue dogs: Jack, Minnie and Kali, and one adopted cat, Reillybear. Her fur babies are her world and she knows yours are, too.
